ABSTRACT

Music is intrinsically linked to technology. Most of the children we teach will be using devices to play, recreate and compose music from performing on Guitar Hero, to composing and sharing their own dance tracks in Garageband. The music children listen to is predominantly created using technology; it is a sound world they are immersed in and is relevant to them. For some, music technology could become their career pathway so therefore it is vital that educators equip them with the skills and musical knowledge they may need. Music technology allows children to create music akin to the music they know, therefore can reduce their frustration and barriers and make them motivated in the music classroom.
