ABSTRACT

Political, environmental, social, and economic difficulties impact on everyone involved in school life in many deep and different ways. Making sure that pupils and the people who work with them can survive and thrive when life is tough is therefore an essential part of personal development in our century. This chapter begins by helping teachers to understand that resilience is a set of connected processes that work across many aspects of a pupil’s life. Readers are invited to think about their own resilience as a teacher, and the kinds of school policies that are best placed to support safe and resilient digitally mediated activities for everyone in a school community. This chapter offers guidance as to the ways in which pupils can be taught to be resilient in a digital world.
