ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces ways that digital technologies can be used to develop inclusive practices and argues the case for a social rather than medical model through which to view pupil’s learning needs. The chapter begins with a discussion surrounding key terminology and proceeds by examining how technology can support the particular needs of pupils with special needs and disabilities. This chapter enables the reader to critically analyse the potential for technology to enable learning for all pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), to select appropriate technology-based tools to support the needs of pupils, and to identify resources to keep up to date in the field of SEND and technology.
