ABSTRACT

In this interlude, Brooke M. Haney interviews Midori about her work with ropes and bondage, and how her work aligns with intimacy coordination. Midori is a multi-hyphenate artist, author and performer. She works as an educator, sexologist and on-set stylist. Perhaps best known for her first of many books, The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage, Midori is largely credited with bringing the eroticism of rope bondage to the English-speaking world. She is an expert in BDSM and kink, particularly femme dominance. She trains therapists in kink fluency and works as a kink expert on fashion, porn and TV/film sets under a plethora of titles she affectionately whittles down to “kink or rope chick.” In the interlude, Haney and Midori discuss kink representation – both good and bad – and how that affects storytelling.
