ABSTRACT

In this chapter, Brooke M. Haney discusses strategies for working on scenes that portray, involve or discuss trauma. There are many possible types of scenes that involve trauma: intimate partner violence, medical trauma or death, micro aggressions or aggressions, death by suicide. In this chapter, Haney focuses on the types of things that may be expected of an intimacy coordinator or intimacy director when working on such projects in theatre, TV and film. This chapter involves the importance of choosing the correct intimacy team, language and research, closure tools, and audience consent via content warnings or notices.
