ABSTRACT

In this section on intimacy and violence, intimacy and fight choreographer Cristina (Cha) Ramos (she/ella) facilitates a conversation with colleagues Rachel Flesher (they/she/he), Eli Lynn (they/them) and Siobhan Richardson (she/her) on considerations for work that includes staged violence and staged intimacy. Pulling from their expertise and work in both fields, these seasoned professionals discuss the challenges, opportunities and areas for learning across these two distinct-but-overlapping artforms. They discuss specific experiences, tools, definitions and ideologies that have helped them navigate across both competencies, and offer recommendations for important cross-training and logistics to consider when creating work that involves both intimacy and violence.
