ABSTRACT

The Discovering Strengths and Capabilities while Observing Varied Ethnic Responses model is an integrated system for assessing and developing children's creative problem solving abilities in multiple domains. Implementing the curriculum model employs the problem-solving continuum and includes designing ways to build on student strengths in problem solving and multiple intelligences. Key scientific findings about human learning and problem solving in recent decades have come from studies of people who have developed expertise, and who have achieved eminence in areas such as science and math. Inclusion of a wide range of structure in the challenges and tasks enabled the team of researchers to learn much more about the abilities of individuals and the ways they used their experiences and knowledge.
