ABSTRACT

The Arab Gulf States are entering a new stage in their development as a result of various characteristics which distinguish them from other societies. Education in the Arab Gulf states, therefore, should play a role consistent with these new phenomena and effectively participate in meeting the needs and goals of progress and development. Most of the Arab Gulf states suffer a lack of primary natural resources such as agricultural land, water, minerals, and so on. The Gulf socities have undergone an obvious change in the nature of work, professions and new economic activity in addition to a basic change in the nature and structure of the population and distribution of the labour force. Oil will remain dominant in the economies of the Arab Gulf states for many years to come and its income will be important for growth and development.
