ABSTRACT
A very important issue with respect to Chinese reading is how Chinese readers segment sequences of characters into words. In English, and other alphabetic writing systems, this is quite easy because spaces are inserted between words. But in Chinese, there are no spaces between words. Given that spacing cues are not available to Chinese readers, how do they segment a text into words?
