ABSTRACT
‘China urges the US side to fully abandon the hegemonic practice of willfully interfering in China’s internal affairs. This has been a long-standing issue and it should be changed. It is time for it to change. And in particular, on the 17th of March, the United States escalated its so-called sanctions on China regarding Hong Kong, and the Chinese people are outraged by this gross interference in China’s internal affairs and the Chinese side is firmly opposed to it. ‘If Russia wanted to do it in secret, they would do it in secret. They’re doing everything they can for people to see them, and to show them how cool [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is.’ Dmytro Kotsyubaylo, commander of a volunteer unit of the ultranationalist Ukrainian militia Right Sector, comments on Russia’s military build-up near Ukraine in April 2021. ‘These ships are, concretely, a threat from the Russian state’.
