ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to explore the relationships between Ethnic American theater and Absurdist dramaturgy. Toward this end, an examination of the diverse, experimental works, Los Vendidos by Luis Valdez, FOB by David Henry Hwang, R.A.W. (‘Cause I’m a Woman) by Diana Son, and Fur by Migdalia Cruz, is offered. As will be shown, generative connections between themes of racism and racial construction, and absurdist theatrical principles of inaction, oppression, and ridiculousness, work together on page and stage.
