ABSTRACT

Mentoring is an important resource that aids career advancement and provides personal and psychosocial support. Mentoring needs evolve as you advance through your career, and the mid-career stage is an ideal time to critically reflect on mentoring and developmental networks that support next steps in both academic and holistic lives. The focus of this chapter is to provide an overview of specific mentoring needs of mid-career faculty by drawing on a tool of reflective journal prompts created for our professional organizations’ annual meetings and relying also on the authors’ wisdom of practice. Mid-career mentoring hazards are also highlighted.
