ABSTRACT
This chapter briefly presents the pollen data available for the study of Byzantine Greece. It provides details of eleven of the available sites, already published elsewhere, as well as setting out the methods used to obtain regional trends from individual site data. It then proceeds to the interpretation of the results, focused on Late Antiquity, the Middle Byzantine economic revival, and the late medieval period, with a particular attention given to the effects of the Black Death.
