ABSTRACT

Digital technologies have become an essential part of the administration toolkit. It has not only ensured transparency and accountability while assuring quick and effective responsiveness of government to citizens’ problems and suggestions, but also improves operational efficiency in the control of corruption and efficient delivery of public goods and services such as education, health, social security, and transport. India has been very quick in the adoption of technology, as is evident from the fact that the world's four largest digital programs viz., Aadhar, UPI, FASTag, and Co-WIN, which have changed the landscape of civil administration, are implemented in India. This chapter also discusses the future of technology in e-legislatures, strengthening parliamentary committees, virtual judiciary, promoting participative democracy, implementing good governance indices, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
