ABSTRACT

This chapter articulates the distinct and valuable perspective that Learning Development can offer not just the students we support but our institutions and the Higher Education sector more broadly. It explores how Learning Development is perceived within the learning and teaching landscape by senior leadership, barriers to our visibility, and how we might understand and locate ourselves within a broader context. From this ‘outside in’ perspective, the chapter discusses a number of opportunities and approaches to integrate our provision more fundamentally within the curriculum and associated processes such as policy, regulation, or quality assurance, and position our work more strategically alongside the key drivers and agendas within the Higher Education sector, contributing to and shaping the discussion.
