ABSTRACT

In this haecceity, I introduce the thesis and the haecceities to come. I begin with directions for reading, suggesting you might begin where you like, but also that there is a story to find in starting here, in the middle, where we are. I relate my process of writing as a process of inquiry and introduce the problems of environmental education that this writing draws me to. Further, I introduce the thesis as becoming concerned with me, my subjectification, my ethical capacities, my practice as an environmental educator and ‘liver’ of theory, and troubling the borders that separate these things. Further, I introduce immanence as the hereness, the thisness that drives life and which offers the critical leverage to think and live differently.
