ABSTRACT

Agricultural production in the state has been increasing over the years, but the condition of the farming community has not improved significantly. The problem is not due to productivity but the management of agriculture and its resources. There is a need to collect and analyse data in order to make decisions which will help farmers to realise higher incomes. For this purpose there is a need for up-to-date reliable data and a degree of data integration for better access and analysis. Advanced analytical techniques could then be used, and credible, adequate, timely, meaningful insights into agricultural production and marketing useful to the farmers and stakeholders could be provided using the Internet and apps to make data available which will greatly reduce the uncertainty in making better decisions. This could be refined by using machine learning and artificial intelligence to enhance the efficacy of such advisories. Information and communication technology can be supplemented with blockchain for greater transparency and effectiveness. Blockchain is the technology most likely to change the next decade of business. Blockchain is the first native digital medium for value, just as the Internet was the first native digital medium for information.
