ABSTRACT

This chapter reports on six faculty development interventions used to address digital accessibility at a small, comprehensive master’s university. It explores relevant literature and elaborates on their utility, value, and applicability to small organizations that support faculty with a modest number of professionals rather than sizable teams dedicated to online learning, teaching and learning, and faculty development. The chapter provides a framework encompassing various types of faculty development that differ in format, formality, and scale. It relates these interventions to historical trends in faculty development and professional development more broadly. The chapter also discusses challenges for small organizations that should be considered when selecting faculty development interventions specifically for digital accessibility. It describes the six digital accessibility interventions used to support faculty at a small university. Finally, the chapter provides the rationale for using these interventions while addressing issues of motivation and practicality.
