ABSTRACT
The essay deliberates on the nature of folklore, its creation and proliferation, and how every literature is indebted to folklore. The essay goes on to discuss the connection between the folklore of Punjab and Punjabi literature, and reiterates that post-independence, many changes came in our cultural life and ideology due to spread of education, industry and science, but the basic nature of Punjabi literature is still folk based.
