ABSTRACT
A grappling between capitalism and socialism is the basic reality of contemporary world. But that does not mean that the world dialectics is dictated to be within the limits of socialist and capitalist countries or movements. This opposition to society sometimes assumes several forms and the novel presents those varied forms. The question is how much possibility there is for a person to act for his/her advantage in the prevailing circumstances. This possibility reflects the freedom allowed to her/him by society.
