ABSTRACT
I’d just returned from the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC) in Indianapolis. I was flush with excitement, eager to get back into the classroom to apply what I’d learned, and excited to share my experiences with colleagues. But mingled with that enthusiasm was a sense of loss I found difficult to communicate. I didn’t know what I’d lost exactly, but I knew when I first felt it.
