ABSTRACT

The blended learning courses incorporate more interactions, among the students and between students and the instructor. Increased opportunities for interaction engage a larger percentage of the students and help solidify a learning community, an effect that is especially noticeable in large classes. Learning objects give students a chance to assess their own understanding and to practice their new skills online before coming to the face-to-face class, and the multimedia appeals to students with different learning styles. Technology can also be used to make online resources easier to access, allowing students to bring more information to bear on their analyses of course content. Time spent online gives students more time to reflect on and consolidate the content into larger chunks, which in turn enables them to build a more elaborate knowledge framework. Institutional support manifests itself in terms of support provided to students.
