ABSTRACT

The Catalyst Framework represents a valuable set of best practices for guiding the future of ePortfolio use as a High-Impact Practice in higher education today. The department is home to five areas of faculty expertise—creative writing, language and writing, literature, PWR, and teacher licensure. The PWR senior portfolio requirement began partially in response to the university’s mandate that all graduating seniors be assessed by an external review, often via a standardized test. The Catalyst Framework works well for small programs like, though some of the Framework sectors work differently at this micro level than they might in campus-wide ePortfolio initiatives. PWR student portfolios both embody social constructionist understandings of professional writing and are an outcome of an integrative social pedagogy. Overall, the ePortfolio portion of the PWR program is highly impactful as a fully integrated learning opportunity for students developing professional identities as writers and rhetors and for faculty charged with evolving the program.
