ABSTRACT

Yale Divinity School (YDS) is a small part of a large university, with about 400 divinity students in the midst of a wider student body of 12,000. Most students will choose academic work, favorite papers written, as their ePortfolio submissions. Most students will choose academic work, favorite papers written, as their ePortfolio submissions. Rodgers outlined four principles for meaningful reflection: reflection as connection, as systematic inquiry, in community, and as an attitude toward change. Such high-impact pedagogical practice, it can be argued, requires attention to each of those principles. Attention is focused on issues of purpose, vocation, and identity, what Rodgers called an attitude toward change. Correction, affirmation, and celebration, in response to the academic work and personal reflection of each student, are worthy aspirations. It is an important and defining purpose for ePortfolio use at every level of learning.
