ABSTRACT

For over a decade, The Global Community for Academic Advising (NACADA) Region 2 has offered a mentoring program to its members. This program is both formal and informal, offering advising practitioners the opportunity to serve their community in different activities. Being selected and welcomed into the cohort by the regional coordinator was an amazing feeling of acceptance. Mentor and mentee matching is a science that any program organizer should consider. Orienting participants is another important factor for any mentoring program. Past participants of the Region 2 program have served on the NACADA Board of Directors, NACADA Council, chaired advising communities, and association committees and advisory boards. Mentoring has played a large role in engagement in the association, including regional and global leadership opportunities. There will always be new advisors and administrators seeking the guidance and wisdom of an experienced leader in the field.
