By focusing on understanding how violence affects women, administrators and university personnel may be able to initiate programs and policies aimed at decreasing sexual violence on college campuses. The main categories of sexual violence against women on college campuses include acquaintance rape, sexual harassment, stalking, and courtship/dating/domestic violence. The complexity of violence on campus requires an approach to reducing violence that embraces multiple, mutually supportive methods, initiatives, and programs. In conclusion, campus administrators and student affairs professionals must stay current on the crime prevention programs, strategies, and best practices within academia.
