ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the author argues that the Minnesota system developers have the right sense of destiny; eportfolio systems should be designed to meet large, diverse sets of user needs that span lifetimes. Recent activities in the commercial sector demonstrate that shared infrastructure can be built and docs offer a cost-effective approach for service providers who pool their needs. To answer the question, the Collective Action team is pursuing the Russian Doll model, creating a core environment and nesting it as a replicable resource able to serve ever-larger numbers of institutions as awareness and interest grows. Simply stated, the dream of Collective Action is to scale the eportfolio environment such that all Ohioans seeking its positive contributions to deep learning have access. Learning from organizations inside and outside academia, Collective Action has carefully laid the groundwork for change to an eportfolio system that supports all Ohioans in their lifewide and lifelong learning.
