ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses how the eFolio Minnesota software has been adapted to allow users to demonstrate, support, and foster interconnections between purpose and practice among students, faculty, and institutions, empowering both individuals and institutions. The eFolio Minnesota engine allows both individuals and institutions to build on a content management engine created by Avenet, Inc. enabling individuals to control the display of the selection and reflection of learning and the achievement of learning outcomes. The institution reports that in developing the portfolio, it focused on using the features of the Web—menus, navigational tools, and drilldowns— to allow users of the site to make efficient connections between arguments and supporting evidence and between general statements and more detailed information. To support the use of eFolio Minnesota for similar institutional assessment, new functionalities have been developed. The impact of institutional electronic portfolio research will depend on how effectively it is disseminated.
