ABSTRACT

The work of the Inter/National Coalition for Electronic Portfolio Research documented in this book points toward the coming of these transitions; the continuing work of the Coalition will move them forward. Future cohorts and collaborations will continue to globalize our collaborative inquiries, and the results will enrich our understanding of the rapidly disseminating set of practices associated with eportfolios. More specifically, the authors argue that new, flexible, and dynamic spaces, with their capacity to welcome all people and all projects and to support organization, communication, and circulation of information, may mark demise of US higher education as they have known it. Eportfolios provide a unique way to feature student inquiry and knowledge, to benefit from what technology offers as a mode of and vehicle for learning, and to place each individual's learning in the broadest of contexts. As Inter/National Coalition for Eportfolio Research continues to coordinate teams of researchers in future cohorts, it will report on findings from their research.
