ABSTRACT

In this chapter, the authors share with the readers the depth of the discussion that has transpired over the years at the Sister Circle roundtable discussions at the annual convention of the American College Personnel Association (ACPA). Sister Circles are roundtables sponsored by the Standing Committee for Women (SCW) and an opportunity for women graduate students, administrators, and faculty members of color who work in the field of student affairs to come together to discuss contemporary topics relevant to their personal and professional lives. In order to mirror the depth of the Sister Circle dialogues, this chapter is itself a dialogue between African American, Asian American, Latina, and multiracial women, and facilitated by Mariama Boney, Director of Member Initiatives and Constituent Relations at ACPA and former SCW directorate member. As five strong, dynamic women who took part in this dialogue, the authors share much in common, including friendships, professional connections, and shared experiences.
