ABSTRACT

Despite years of feminist work and change toward raising awareness of the prevalence of sexual victimization, girls and women continue to disproportionately struggle for safety and justice. Sexual assault occurs at particularly high rates on college campuses. The purpose of this chapter is unique in that in addition to providing syntheses of literature and reflections regarding sexual assault prevention, we provide an “insider’s view” of the step-by-step procedures for implementing and facilitating campus-based sexual assault prevention programming More broadly, the overarching goal of this chapter is to assist educators, health professionals, and student affairs personnel in gaining an understanding of the fundamental components, as well as the personal and procedural challenges, of campus-based sexual assault prevention.
