ABSTRACT

When I joined the Impact of Shifting Demographics on the Mission of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) project through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) in the fall semester of 2013, I had not had any significant prior research experience, but the topic drew my interest. Although we would be looking at the impact of changing populations on the campuses of HBCUs in their entirety through surveys of administrators, faculty, and students, I was most interested in the effects that these changes have had on the students themselves.
