ABSTRACT

Assessment has traditionally been a method to evaluate student progress and verify their accomplishments. The ubiquitous appearance of assessment in accreditation standards suggests that accrediting agencies consider assessment a crucial component of the overall student learning experience in higher education that supports quality in teaching and learning. The mission of the College is to educate podiatric medical students in an interprofessional environment that emphasizes excellence in academics, patient care, and research in preparation for residency. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine (SCPM) evaluates its effectiveness in attaining its mission through tracking and analyzing the assessment data points that indicate success in meeting programmatic outcomes and accreditor learning competencies. This chapter outlines how SCPM tracks and improves the educational program to fulfill the mission and meet accreditation standards.
