ABSTRACT

Enrollment management (EM) is both an organizational concept as well as a systematic set of activities designed to enable educational institutions to exert more influence over their student enrollments and total net tuition revenue derived from enrolled students. This chapter outlines a practitioner-defined research agenda critical to the formation of the practitioner-to-researcher loop. It contributes to the shaping of the researcher-to-practitioner loop by identifying channels of communication for researchers to report to practitioners the findings of their studies on topics of the practitioner-defined research agenda for EM. The strategic enrollment management (SEM) planning category represents the concerns of respondents who would like to see more research on SEM planning. The shifting demographics category reflects respondents who were mostly concerned about how student demographics have shifted in the United States, though some were interested in research that would explore demographic shifts on a global scale.
