ABSTRACT
Along with estimating participants’ current abilities and expectations related to activity goals, a major leadership task is to help participants narrow the gap (discrepancy) between their current and desired proficiencies. Effective leaders efficiently assess such gaps to help achieve activity goals through attention to estimates of gaps, influences on proficiencies, activities, and outcomes. Suggested ways to obtain and use such estimates are presented in this chapter.
