ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the Learning Partnerships Model conceptualized from the characteristics Erica and other learners portrayed as central to their journeys toward self-authorship. Exemplars from the longitudinal participants graduate education illustrate the nature of learning partnerships in multiple academic disciplines. Employment exemplars demonstrate the Learning Partnerships Model in diverse employment contexts and model types of learning partnerships that could be adopted by college educators in both academic and campus employment contexts. Community life exemplars show various forms the Learning Partnerships Model can take in everyday interactions with others and model learning partnerships college educators could translate to college community life, service learning, cultural immersion programs, and study abroad. The Learning Partnerships Model promoted the journey toward self-authorship in a large education class as well. The goals of the course included learning to interpret, critique, and judge educational practices.
