ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how the Casa de la Solidaridad addresses these questions by simultaneously supporting and challenging students as they are immersed in the realities of the poor of El Salvador. It describes the Casa and show how it has drawn from the wisdom and insights of Baxter Magolda’s Learning Partnerships Model. Today, the Jesuits and their colleagues at the UCA in El Salvador continue conducting rigorous social analysis of the social, political, and economic realities in the country. Its aim is to commemorate their lives and continue their commitments of promoting justice and solidarity. The mission of Casa de la Solidaridad is the promotion of justice and solidarity. The primary point of entry into the Salvadoran way of life is through the praxis course, which integrates praxis in local communities, social analysis, and personal reflection. The stories of additional Casa participants provide more details about the dynamics of challenge and support with each theme.
