ABSTRACT

As a very recent graduate of my college’s teacher education program, I still feel much more like a student than a teacher. My experiences as a student participating in service-learning far outnumber my experiences as a teacher implementing service-learning, so my following reflections on the topic will be more from a student’s and student teacher’s perspective than that of a professional teacher. As a student, however, I found learning through service to be very rewarding in my own education, and as a teacher I look forward to giving my students the chance not only to learn by doing but also to learn by doing for others.
