ABSTRACT

Collaboration is an essential aspect of service-learning programs in teacher education. While much has been written about the process of involving community members in the design and conduct of service-learning projects, collaboration in the real world can be filled with many small victories and challenges that are difficult to portray in a list of stages or “how-to’s.” The following story of the collaboration between one teacher education program and two community agencies will serve to illustrate how a collaboration may evolve, with trials and successes along the way.
