ABSTRACT
Although there is not a huge emphasis on historical research in adult continuing education, there has been consistent interest in it. Most research in the field focuses on practice, whereas historical research focuses on the state of adult education. The study of history involves examination of the unique events that have occurred over time. These unique events may be the result of trends, or they may be something else. In attempting to answer questions, historical research raises new ones. Our historical knowledge is never complete.
