ABSTRACT

Gamified learning is an effective strategy to engage adult learners with intended learning outcomes. The complexity of creating or selecting gamified learning for adult learners, however, often discourages the implementation of this instructional strategy among adult learning facilitators. This chapter simplifies such complexity by first describing gamified learning methods and their relationships with adult learner needs. Second, the chapter discusses a systematic approach to create gamified learning experience. Third, an evaluative framework for creating and selecting gamified learning solutions is demonstrated with a case. The limitations of gamified learning for adult learners, in the context of the digital divide and open learning, is discussed to conclude the chapter.
