ABSTRACT

Flipped classrooms are a popular model used to blend online and face-to-face learning. With this approach, online instruction occurs first and includes more passive activities such as readings and lectures and face-to-face instruction followed by interactive and collaborative activities. A flipped classroom model is well-matched to how adults approach learning. It encourages real-world application, works well for those who accept responsibility for their learning, and enables adults to make meaning of their learning. This chapter presents a pathway for adult educators to create and deliver an effective and inclusive flipped classroom experience.
