ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the dynamics associated with these complex issues and the role graduate professional preparation and ongoing professional development play in preparing and adapting student affairs practitioners for the changing nature of student affairs roles and responsibilities. As a result, these activities do little to ensure a student affairs organization that their staff are being systematically developed and appropriately prepared and enabled to perform emerging roles and responsibilities or even understand the rapidly changing dynamics occurring in the organization's work environment. The roles and responsibilities outlined in this book provide only a glimpse of what is to come as the nature of student affairs work continues to shift and adapt to the demands placed on it. These standards also provide some guidance about future trends and recognize the complexity of changing roles and responsibilities within the profession.
