ABSTRACT

Eva feels like she comes home from class each week with a headache. Enrolled in a required foundation course that is focusing on issues of diversity, Eva is just beginning to learn about how the educational system has privileged some and disadvantaged others. She is now starting to see how much of what she has encountered in her life has been tainted by racism, sexism, and classism. While she acknowledges that this course has been helpful, she is also really starting to feel resentful in general. Her partner has even suggested that Eva's recent anger has begun to concern her. Eva is both exhilarated and overwhelmed by this class and the feelings it evokes. She wonders how far she will make it before she has a meltdown.
