ABSTRACT

This chapter offers individual and small group instructional consultation, bespoke workshops for academic units, and facilitated conversations designed to help departmental or program faculty identify and work through instructional or curricular challenges. The authors needed to be strategic in how they used their resources to meet the volume of need, so they focused on rethinking instructional consultation; developing their digital outreach; and scaling their programs up and down. Digital tools like Zoom, Slack, and Google docs have made our workplace more flexible and helped us recognize flexibility as an organizational strength, not simply a strategy they implement in response to a crisis. The word "structure" may seem at odds with the pandemic's emphasis on flexibility. In both the workplace and the classroom, flexibility around deadlines and engagement helped students and employees weather the pandemic.
