ABSTRACT

As context for Valencia's response to COVID, it is important to acknowledge some of the College's distinguishing features, particularly in teaching and online learning. With respect to teaching, the CTLI had spent several years prior to COVID leading efforts on inclusive teaching. Valencia College has many ambitious goals it has yet to meet, and more granular analyses revealed places where additional efforts are needed, yet these outcomes warranted heartfelt gratitude for each member of the College community and each individual student whose efforts they represent and honor. Responding to COVID-19 tested our culture, our leadership, our resolve, and our ability to innovate. Although the three innovations described below are embedded in the narrative above and work synergistically with one another, this section features each as a distinct set of practices, and for each, offer Valencia's leading recommendations.
