ABSTRACT

One of the notable changes in American society over the last thirty years has been the increase of dual-career couples. Thanks to the feminist movement in the 1960s, women no longer must choose between having careers or committed relationships. Today, more women are completing baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees and are effectively competing for positions in the careers of their choice. Further, despite the divorce rate, women are as likely to marry or to commit openly to their same-sex partners as well. As such, the number of dual-career couples continues to rise dramatically.
