ABSTRACT

Effective leadership is the process of creating and sustaining positive change. The dearth of strong cohesive leadership in the environmental community is frequently cited as one reason for failure to make more significant progress toward sustainable systems. Consequently, in popular and academic literature, new integrative leaders are being sought to shape a sustainable future. Teaching upcoming leaders from various disciplines about the interaction of sustainability and leadership skills may be one of the most important tasks for education. In this chapter, we discuss the need to teach sustainability leadership and our approach to educating a new generation of leaders to address today’s most pressing issues.
