ABSTRACT

The University of Minnesota has developed an enterprise data management and reporting strategy for the institution. This organizational structure enables the execution and support of decision analytics strategies by taking in projects and moving them through the development life cycle to the end delivery state, steps that require a shared development and delivery strategy for enterprise reporting and analytics. The what refers to the institutional objectives that will be addressed by executing the strategy, and the how highlights the structural and technical aspects of the strategy that defines the systems, standards, policies, procedures, processes, and organizational structure needed to execute the decision analytics plan. An effective decision analytics enterprise strategy will address these three critical points and enable the program planning phase to be fully informed. The enterprise-wide strategy is critical as it provides the framework for the institution going forward and describes how an enterprise will leverage the benefits of decision analytics leading to the success of the institution.
