ABSTRACT

In recent years, technological advances have given rise to an analytics revolution, which makes it possible for colleges and universities to satisfy these demands. The analytics revolution represents an opportunity for colleges and universities to undertake needed structural shifts, but only if decision makers can use it to extract valuable insight that promotes student success and quality outcomes and supports the institutional mission. Developing one is a resource-intensive process, but if done right, it can set institutions up to benefit greatly from the analytics revolution. Due to the resource-intensive and time-consuming nature of harnessing the analytics revolution, it is advisable to start small. Effectively and adaptively communicating insight is crucial to realizing the full value of the analytics revolution. Simply put, the analytics revolution, if harnessed effectively, represents a rare opportunity for higher education to fundamentally reconfigure itself for the better.
